Working with Peita was a really great experience. She needed someone to help her secure a property near the city in Sydney as she was relocating for work.
Part of the process involved the sale of her lovely home in the Southern Tablelands. Downsizing from her big home into an apartment was never going to be easy, but we wanted to ensure we found her the perfect place, and by the end of June, so her settlement timeframes would be aligned.
Ideally, she wanted to be in Rosebery or Alexandria and was after a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 2 car space unit that felt spacious and bright. Not really an easy thing to find in those locations. Oh, and the budget was $1.5m.
We reviewed a number of on market and a handful of off market properties. Most developments had major strata issues. We shortlisted a few, and Peita went to inspect them, and this apartment was the winner.
We tried to secure it before auction, but the agent said the vendor insisted on going to auction. We went to the auction, and that was an experience. The vendor’s family got into a physical fight – lots of shouting and yelling, and meanwhile, we had the highest bid at $1.48m on the table. But we had not met the reserve (we assume it was $1.5m). Mark conducted this auction and just sat there, cool and calm as ever.
With tensions high, there was no agreement to sell by the vendor’s family. We left as the highest bidders, and at 10pm, the agent called to say we had a deal.
We exchanged that evening and secured her the most outstanding property. Did we mention it is north facing with city views, and it is a 3-bed, 3.5-bathroom, 2 car space unit that feels just like home?
