Alan and Kara were referred to us by their mortgage broker. Originally based in the inner west of Sydney, they had packed up their bags and moved overseas.
While they continued to hold their original property as an investment, the equity had grown and they were looking to buy another suitable property in the Hunter region.
The brief was difficult, with the desire to buy something the family could move into at some point in the future while also being a good investment from a cashflow perspective. They also wanted to be close to the beach.
Packing all that into one property was not an easy brief. After a few months of talking to agents and reviewing suitable options, the perfect property came along. A house and near new granny flat returning $1,750 per week. It was 10 minutes from the beach, five minutes from Westfield, and located on a quiet street with district views from the main balcony.
The owners were looking for $1.75m, but we managed to secure it for $1.715m with a six month settlement, allowing us to capture more of the strong growth cycle in Newcastle without having to pay the mortgage.
